29 scouts advanced in 7 ranks, 35 scouts earned merit badges, 106 merit badges earned in all. Many adults completed training, thank you, parents! Scoutmaster Howie inducted the 3 new leaders: Adam Panzica as SPL, Stephen Paul as ASPL, and Joe Nepsa as Quartermaster. Scoutmaster Howie's Scoutmaster Minute spoke about the redundancy in names in our troop since we have 52 scouts now. There are many same first names and last names and some same first names that are not the same family. Two people shared the same name, but one as a first name and the other as a last name.

On May 28, 2018, scouts both participated in a 10 mile hike that started at 6:30am as well as marched in the parade downtown Wilmette that started at 10am. Both groups met at the Village at 11:30am. On May 19, 2018, Troop 3 had its annual pancake breakfast. The fundraiser helps provide tents and supplies for the scouting program. The morning breakfast featured blueberry, chocolate chip, and plain pancakes. All you can eat included savory sausages, orange juice, milk, and water. Mr. Rittner led the troop on a 5+ mile hike in Harms Woods. We used map and compass. Patrol boxes were organized. Grubmasters were chosen. The camporee is this weekend with a movie making merit badge theme. Jack, Kyle, and Evan worked with younger scouts on advancement activities. Scoutmaster Howie reflected about an Eagle scout who was days away from the completion of an Eagle scout project to establish a new park for his town but had a fatal accident before achieving his dream.
The troop took a train from the Linden El Station, the walked to the Indiana Dunes for the evening campout.
